Tjerk Jacob Muilwijk is a Dutch filmmaker and photographer whose work is driven by a strong visual sensibility and a passion for storytelling. After starting his career as a cinematographer, he felt the urge to take a leading role in the creative process, which led him to expand his practice into writing and directing.

Together with his partner Katja van den Broeke, he founded

A SENTIMENTAL MOOD, a bureau where they collaborate as a director–cinematographer duo. By working closely across all stages of production, they maintain a clear and cohesive vision throughout the entire creative process.

Across both still and moving image, Tjerk combines his fascination with fashion, art, music, architecture, and classic cinema to create visually distinctive and emotionally resonant work. His projects are characterized by a refined aesthetic, strong atmosphere, and a cinematic approach that balances authenticity with style.
